Parents' New Car

So let me preface this with the following statement, "Everyone is okay." On the 15th my parents were driving through Spokompton on their way to Missoula. Didn't quite make it. Dad was driving under a train trestle and didn't see the stop lights. At all. And it was red. He almost made it through the intersection but ended up clipping an El Camino. According to witnesses, the parents' jeep "flew through the air like a stunt car" and landed upside down.

Now remember! Everyone is okay! Dad was able to climb out but Mom was sort of stuck. Plus they had Grizzy and Krista's two dogs in the backseat. All the dogs came out okay except Ricki had a cut on his back. Always travel with your dogs in crates!

The firefighters had to get Mom out and so she automatically went on the backboard and had the neck collar on. Now Mom has issues with things under her chin. So the collar almost drove her batty. Anyway, Krista (who was in Spokane for work) showed up about then and gets the dogs while the ambulance takes Mom to the hospital and the cops take Dad to meet her.

Mom had some cuts on her arm and some glass in it too. A couple of days later she also realized she had something in her eye and had to get that taken care. Dad is fine but of course feels horribly guilty. The jeep is totalled but they spent the last week calling around and found a new one already.

So the moral of the story is go tell your parents you love them! I am so thankfully they came out of this so well. We never know what life is going to throw at us. Appreciate everyone in your life.
