Obama speech to schools

Well, it seems our country's president will be sending out an inspiring speech to our country's youth on Tuesday. Now the basic idea of the speech is to ask children to set goals for themselves and basically be good students. Great idea right?

But, alas, I don't know if I can trust this. Already the information and lesson plans on the government website are already being changed because of the many parents protesting. "How can I serve the president?" was one assignment question. Hmm, last I checked the president was supposed to be serving me. This may be nitpicking but his attitude towards the citizens in our country irritates me.

Now, yes, most of you already know I don't like the president, but I think the saddest part is I don't trust him. If he were just going to come on and say "work hard in school, have a great year" that would be great. But I don't trust that that is all he will say! Will it become a rah-rah for O's government plans? Just do what the government wants...

The funniest part for me is that a principal in UT just got in huge trouble for showing a video about service starring Obama and his liberal Hollywood buddies. She didn't preview it and REALLY regretted that choice as she saw it during the assembly. The parents in her community were NOT happy.

As a responsible teacher, I always preview things before showing my kids. Am I going to have the chance to preview Obama's speech? Am I going to be required to show it? (Oh, Jordan School District don't go there, I'm already ready to quit your horrid district!) We will see!

PS I just noticed spellcheck does not like Obama's name!
