So, Heather, remember when I told you this morning I was having trouble coming up with a project for my off-track time? Guess I have one!
I was just informed I received a fully-funded scholarship for the National Board Certification process. Great news. I'm the type of dork who enjoys continuing education. This program is a HUGE process and will take the whole year. For those of you who don't know, there are two main parts. The first is based on reflections of my classroom teaching. This will involve video taping my class and writing lots about what I observed, what I would change, etc. Did I mention lots of writing? The second part is a series of tests about my knowledge of my curriculum.
I'm confident in both my knowledge base and my writing (BS) skills. But it will be a huge commitment. The pluses are if I want to transfer to WA to teach it will be very easy and potentially there is a slight raise (if Jordan School District continues to support it). So if you don't see me much in the next year, now you know why. :)
