Appreciative Parents

I sent out emails today asking for parents to donate things for our multiplication party. Although other teachers do this, I felt weird asking parents to donate to me so I could reward their kids. Evidently, the parents didn't think it was weird at all. They were so generous and I had all the supplies spoken for by lunch time.

But the best part were the things they had to say about me! I've always said I don't need presents at the end of the year-I'd rather hear if they appreciated me. Wow! Such kind things. After the beating we teachers have been getting lately, it is nice to know some people respect us.

My favorite: You are really one of those teachers making a difference.

(Had to brag a little, hope you don't mind)

i agree - i'd much rather get a note from parents telling me i helped their kid than some present. sure, presents are nice and fun, but not as special.

you are a good teacher, suzanne.
