Ava's big accomplishment

Ava locked me out of the house! Yes, you read that correctly. I was enjoying a beautiful afternoon on my balcony. Ava was getting all hot and panting a lot so I made her go in the house. I closed the sliding door and kept reading. Ava was very excited to see me outside and was jumping around on her side of the door. Next, thing I know, clunk! She knocked the wooden stick into the track of the door! The door won't move! I don't have a phone with me!

After racking my brain and staring at the grinning dog on the other side of the door, I finally asked someone walking by to go get my friend/neighbor/fellow teacher Hailey Ward. At almost that exact moment, Hailey and her hubbie Garrett come strolling down the street. After some discussion, I gave Garrett permission to attempt to pick the lock and/or break the glass by my front door. (Remember, I'm still stuck on the patio.) Ava is going nuts because someone is trying to break in and I am just standing there.

Next thing I know, I hear my alarm announce, "Front door open!" Best words ever! Garrett had opened my door using his credit card! He then came upstairs and released me from my balcony prison.

Lessons learned: Don't make Ava mad. Keep the stick far away from the door. Bring a cell phone with me always! Give a duplicate key to the Wards. Dead blot my front door.

Thank you Hailey and Garrett!

alls i'm going to say is that it's a little scary how easy/fast he was able to pick the lock. use the deadbolt! you've got a great security system though! ;) glad we could help! we were just out for a lil' stroll... glad you didn't have to wait out there too long.

Oh man! That sucks to be locked out. That happened to me last summer. I always carry my cell phone everywhere I go now. Good thing Hayley and Garrett were around to help you out.
